Want to make your holiday season last forever? Enjoy the joy of Christmas
all year, by creating a scrapbook of all your favorite holiday memories.
The following photography, journaling and memorabilia tips will help
you capture those special holiday moments that you want to remember
for a lifetime!

Holiday Photo Tips:
- Before the season begins, make sure you have plenty of film and fresh
batteries for your camera. If you have a digital, same applies don’t
forget to keep those batteries charged up and your memory cards should
have plenty of space!
- Make sure you carry your camera with you all the time during the holiday
season. You never know when a wonderful moment may occur that you want
to remember always.
- Don’t forget to take photos of the sights and sounds of Christmas.
- Capture special moments with the children and family Christmas morning,
but don’t forget to ask someone to take photos of YOU enjoying
the holiday as well to avoid the “missing mom” syndrome.

Holiday Journaling Tips:
- Journaling on your pages helps to tell the story of your favorite
moments. Don’t forget to take some time to record your special
feelings about celebrating the Holidays and what it means to you.
- Jot notes down on a calendar about all the cute things your children
say during the season.
- Keep a gratitude journal to record the special blessings you experience
during the holiday season.

Holiday Memorabilia:
Create a pocket page in your album to display your favorite Holiday
greetings you have received.

Holiday Scrapbooking 101
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, you finally have some
time to sid down and scrapbook your memories. Ok so you have taken rolls
and rolls of film, you have tons of photos to go thru… which ones
do you pick to add to a scrapbook? I wish I had the answer to that question.
Honestly it will be different for each person, but here’s a few
ideas to get you started…
- Go thru your photos and trash (YES I mean it) all those photos that
are too dark or blurry to tell what is actually in them.
- Pick out your favorite photos that have captured moments that are
special to you. These are the photos that when you saw them for the
first time they made you stop and smile at the memory or tear up with
happiness. (well admit it, you do sometimes get that way, at least I
do!)
- Add a few family shots from large family gatherings.
- Remember, there are no rules, just pick the photos that mean something
to you and scrapbook those. If you want to scrapbook them all, there
is nothing wrong with that either!

Getting Started:
For those of you that already scrapbook, this section may not be helpful
to you, but if you are just getting started, here’s a suggested
list of things you will want to have on hand.
- Adhesive- a scrapbooking glue stick and some photo stick tabs will
do just fine
- Ruler, a good pair of scissors and a pencil, or a paper trimmer
- A good black journaling pen, such as Zig , NOT an ink pen
- Cardstock- I am under the philosophy that a girl can never have too
much cardstock, but for this purpose, I will say to get a few basic
colors to get you started on your holiday memories… reds, greens,
white, black, maybe silver and gold as well.
- Patterned papers: This is something that is personal taste, and comes
in so many varieties. I suggest start by looking for colors that compliment
your photos.
- An idea book: Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Simple Scrapbooks…
pick up a holiday issue on the newsstand, they are full of great ideas
to get your creative juices flowing…. Or you can also visit our
